about

Harder is a song about two people searching for the bravery to make the difficult decision to end a long term relationship when they both know that it will be best. It was written from the perspective of a couple trying to work something out together but drawing similar conclusions.

The song started being created in 2020, inspired by a situation that one of the band members had been going through for some time which had been exacerbated by lockdown. It was recorded across a few sessions between 2020 and 2022 at Lucas’s family home in Stellenbosch, and features Amanda Lizamore on guest vocals.

This will be the band's final release from their recent series and it also has a behind the scenes style music video which can be viewed here: youtu.be/GjWXDEXYaaM

lyrics

Looking back at where we first began
And all the moments we can remember
We were young and bound by love’s hunger
And we thought it could last forever

Dressed in black we painted the town red
And every word that we said was poetry
Didn’t care if we didn’t go anywhere
As long as you were right there with me

Hey
It’s getting harder and harder to know what to say
It’s getting harder not to turn around and run away
And if you’re saying that you’re changing just to get me to stay
Then I know that it’s over

Looking back at when we fell apart
It’s like the hole in my heart devours me
We lost track and if we could go back
I would do so many things so differently

Hey
It’s getting harder and harder to know what to say
It’s getting harder not to turn around and run away
And if you’re saying that you’re changing just to get me to stay
Then I know that it’s over

Pull yourself together
Pull yourself towards yourself now
You know it will only get better
If you step out and face the weather

Hey
Don’t fool yourself now
Hey
Don’t lose yourself now
Hey
Don’t abuse yourself now
We will get through somehow
