Harder 06:06
Looking back at where we first began And all the moments we can remember We were young and bound by love’s hunger And we thought it could last forever Dressed in black we painted the town red And every word that we said was poetry Didn’t care if we didn’t go anywhere As long as you were right there with me Hey It’s getting harder and harder to know what to say It’s getting harder not to turn around and run away And if you’re saying that you’re changing just to get me to stay Then I know that it’s over Looking back at when we fell apart It’s like the hole in my heart devours me We lost track and if we could go back I would do so many things so differently Hey It’s getting harder and harder to know what to say It’s getting harder not to turn around and run away And if you’re saying that you’re changing just to get me to stay Then I know that it’s over Pull yourself together Pull yourself towards yourself now You know it will only get better If you step out and face the weather Hey Don’t fool yourself now Hey Don’t lose yourself now Hey Don’t abuse yourself now We will get through somehow
2.
Demons 04:55
Is it the weight of the world? Dragging us under to a place that we don’t know how to leave With every table overturned Our days are numbered and are joys are few and far between Oh all the good times we had We look at pictures and we think about the way things were Before it all went bad Incinerated on the pyre before the start of the war It’s like a demons at the door And we’re just hiding underground And we have no idea what for But we won’t make a sound Is it the turning of the tide? Washing our dreams away and drowning us in salt and decay Is it the way we choose to hide? We’re so much closer now But still so many thousand miles away Oh all the good times we had We look at pictures and we think about the way things were But baby don’t be sad We hold each other so much tighter now than ever before It’s like a demons at the door And we’re just hiding underground And we have no idea what for What any of us did to deserve To be burnt like this at the stake Like a vampire dying of heartbreak To give up on what we know Is to move way too slow
3.
Fade 05:11
When I wake up in the daytime And you’re laying on your side I don’t know if I can trust this Is it real or just a lie I was bored of self-destruction Got so over feeling sad All I needed was a good night You were the best I ever had Things won’t stay the same for too long We can move all around we will find a new favourite song I won’t let this fade like the others We’ll stay undercover Hide one another When we find ourselves coasting We should take a step back Try remember how we came here Back when everything was black All the memories we lived through Wash away with the tide Am I better when I’m with you? Let me know when you decide Things won’t stay the same for too long We can move all around we will find a new favourite song I won’t let this fade like the others We’ll stay undercover Hide one another Is it what you were expecting? Is it the best you’ve ever had? Is it me that you’re protecting? Do you wake up feeling sad? Is it what you were expecting? Is it the best you’ve ever had? Is it me that you’re protecting? Why do you wake up feeling sad? Things won’t stay the same for too long We can move we can find a new favourite song I won’t let this fade like the others Fade like the others Fade like the others We’ll hide one another
4.
Awake 04:20
Hey You’re finally awake The sun came up and then it went down again Do you remember what you said? Some of that went straight to my head Why Do you think the time has come To pack it in like all is said and done I know it’s hard to move on But I’ll carry you if you’ll let me tag along Don’t know what you want me to tell you Don’t know what you need me to say We will find another way through this Live to drown another day Wait I am not done with you yet Neither is the child you haven’t met Mia hopes she’ll have your curls I hope I can show her the world Don’t know what you want me to tell you Don’t know what you need me to say We will find another way through this Live to drown another day Don’t know what you need me to say Don’t know how to dry your tears today We will find another way through this Live to drown Live to drown another day
5.
Cocoon 05:04
Slide inside this tired mind Storms subside as I pass the time Closer Closer to you Wrapped up in the same cocoon Weaving through our former lives Me, in yours And you, in mine But now I’m Closer Closer to you We’re wrapped up in the same cocoon Most of the time I’m at a loss for words I don’t know what to say Don’t know how I became quite so absurd, and I Don’t want to scare you away But I hope you know that I am here to stay As long as I have breath I will be doing my best to stay worthy Closer Closer to you Wrapped up in the same cocoon

about

Between 2020 and 2021, Dangerfields wrote a collection of songs while in and out of lockdowns.
To get around laws preventing mobility at the time, the band set up a home studio in the family home of lead singer Lucas Swart, with their longtime engineer Warren Fisher, and recorded five of these songs across three long weekends. The songs were released separately as singles via The Good Times Co in 2022, with the final track, Harder, being released on 1 December, along with a music video which documents the home recording process.
This EP is a collection of this body of work, representing a very particular time period in which the band was required to approach things differently but were able to create what they consider to be some of their best work as a result.
