Demons is a song about being afraid to leave your safe space for reasons that are either real or in your head, and how stuck that can make us feel.
As a band, we leaned a bit more heavily into each of our instruments with this song than we normally would. We were all feeling a bit frustrated at the time and I think we needed that sense of release.

Dragging us under to a place that we don’t know how to leave
With every table overturned
Our days are numbered and are joys are few and far between

Oh all the good times we had
We look at pictures and we think about the way things were
Before it all went bad
Incinerated on the pyre before the start of the war

It’s like a demons at the door
And we’re just hiding underground
And we have no idea what for
But we won’t make a sound

Is it the turning of the tide?
Washing our dreams away and drowning us in salt and decay
Is it the way we choose to hide?
We’re so much closer now
But still so many thousand miles away

We look at pictures and we think about the way things were
But baby don’t be sad
We hold each other so much tighter now than ever before

It’s like a demons at the door

What any of us did to deserve
To be burnt like this at the stake

Is to move way too slow
